    Behavioral Patterns

The Process of Addiction is often referred to as being misunderstood, more than it being misunderstood it is mistreated and often misdiagnosed. Along with attending to the chemical imbalances that often develop while in active addiction, behavioral patterns are often left unattended as the individual goes through various transitions while in early or middle stages of recovery.

A key tool during any transition phase is observation, the sober companion is always on the look out for such patterns either negative or positive which help in building stronger Recovery & Relapse prevention plans.

Emotions are not usually an addictive personalities best suit. We are highly sensitive and fear driven due to emotional unrest. Understanding and identifying triggers is one of the most important aspects of being able to build a good sense of self which helps an individual in the process of recovery.

Your Sober Companion will identity and help you level out with such triggers which at times are also a major reason for returning back to our drug of choice.

Families and friends of individuals who are in active addiction or early stages of recovery are often operating out of fear. The fear factor is usually connected with the past trauma that they have undergone or are still undergoing . The dysfunction that is created due to lack of communication and acceptance in the family dynamics creates an extremely suffocating environment, due to which the process of recovery often backfires.

A sober companion identifies the dysfunction and works hand in hand with the entire family to create a safe and positive environment.

The process of nurturing sobriety requires a detailed understanding of an individual’s environment.

A sober companion who is constantly guiding and supporting an individual is also completely aware of the environmental cues that can trigger a stressful situation. Environmental stressors are often related to our past associations with places, things, people, certain situations etc.

Creating a thorough understanding of the past and the trauma attached to it is of prime importance.

We need to have an honest approach when dealing with past history, it helps the sober companion to gather information, which can be utilized in order to make a more effective plan to sustain recovery…
